Beachy accessories, blue and green hues and an amazing view make for a busy couple's relaxing retreat.

Tessa and Eric, both Manhattan-based medical professionals, had finally found the perfect city escape, conveniently located in the charming Brooklyn neighborhood of DUMBO. Their apartment seemed to have everything: wall-to-ceiling windows with amazing views, hardwood floors, one of those attention-grabbing columns and a cat named Jalepeño. In terms of the bare bones, they were mostly all set, but after consulting with Homepolish designer Evelyn, it became clear that even the best raw plan can be made even better with a smart design strategy. Starting with a soft gray and blue color palette, Evelyn began building textures with varying shades that complimented their rosewood furniture and highlighted their panoramic Manhattan skyline/Hudson River views. A white couch and custom built-in entertainment center keep the room bright, and the blue carpet gives the space a cool, beachy feel. By the end, Evelyn had successfully turned Tessa’s beautiful open space into a personalized and comfortable home.
