The McClure Family

For a family of three in Glendale, California, Homepolish's Rosa Beltran took their double bathrooms, originally set in the 1930s, and brought them into modern luxury.

Think back on those old movie epics and and film noir masterpieces of 1930s Hollywood. This was the time of Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, Shirley Temple, Mae West, and Judy Garland. Just as grand as these stars of cinema, the sets of these stories were immaculate, full of glamorous living quarters and luxurious bathrooms. As these films were being produced, a real-life luxury home was built in the area of Glendale, about 25 minutes from the studios.

Fast-forward the reel to today. The McClure family, a cast of three, moved into the Glendale home. After 12 years of renovating their downstairs living spaces, they decided that it was time to call in a professional to begin the process upstairs. Homepolish’s Rosa Beltran found two bathrooms in the exact state as they had been built in the 1930s, cramped, dark, and dated. By reconfiguring the floorplan and bringing in some new pieces, she was able to restore luxury back into the spaces.

I love that this project is both modern and traditional, which is exactly what we were going for. I think the black, white, and brass palette we chose is classic, timeless, and beautiful. I love creating a space that I know will “hold up” from an aesthetic standpoint for decades to come.
