Reviving a Revival in LA

When Meghan needed someone to spruce up her family's 1921 Tudor Revival in Los Angeles, she turned to Homepolish's Katherine Carter to make the space livable yet still full of history.

Driving through the Hancock Park area in central LA, a particular abode sticks out on the corner: a 1921 Tudor Revival that is nearly as old as the neighborhood itself. When Meghan and her entertainment manager husband Alex purchased the house, planning to move in with their 3 sons to boot, they wondered if such a historic setting could possibly be right for a young family. She hired Homepolish designer Katherine Carter, hoping that she would breathe some modernity into the house without completely paving over the historic details.
The result is a sun-washed 8,500 square-foot home, perfect for a growing crew. Sleek and bright spaces characterize more “adult” spaces, but the rooms for the boys are a riot of colors. And you can’t miss the graphic wallpapers! Tour the gallery to see Katherine’s take on Tudor glamour.

Katherine has excellent design instincts and was so easy to collaborate with. She turned our space into an elegant home that works double-duty to be totally kid friendly and fun as well. I cannot wait to work with her again!
