Pushing the Boundaries in a Chicago Home

Who

Jenica Myszkowski, VP at Kate Spade NY

Where

Combine a forward-thinking fashion executive and a highly inventive Homepolish designer, and you're bound to get a home that is very outside-the-box.

Photos by Dustin Halleck.

Think about Kate Spade, and what words come to mind? Preppy, polished, colorful, poppy. Necessarily, when Jenica, a VP of stores at Kate Spade NY, and her husband Dave called in Homepolish’s Jennifer Talbot, the aesthetic of the brand was going to play a role in the redesign. They wanted a refreshing overhaul of the outdated and kind of stuffy home they’d been living in for a year (there were 3D fruit on the kitchen’s backsplash!). Uninterested in “safe” design, Jenica and Jennifer pushed the boundaries and created a beautiful, unusual, and frankly awesome home. And it may even be vaguely reminiscent of the fashion designs of Kate herself. Tour the 5BR space in the slideshow!

Hi Lori–Those are Etsy finds but reupholstered with Studio Bon fabric. Jennifer has a good eye for that!

    Hi Kristen,

Unfortunately we don’t have the exact sourcing info as this is an archived project, but the color looks very much like Benjamin Moore Eggplant or Autumn Purple. Hope that helps!
