Anna Gray, Homepolish editor & Brie Welch, Garance Doré fashion market editor
Our editor and her roommate found the perfect, cozy East Village apartment. With lots of natural light, high ceilings and just enough room for two, it's an inviting downtown gem full of dreamy furnishings.
Our editor Anna Gray and her roommate Brie Welch (Garance Doré’s fashion market editor) had a tough time finding an apartment within their budget that wasn’t dark and tiny, in an undesired area and/or visibly infested with some kind of vermin (gross, we know). After months of hunting, they saw this little jewel of a home on Craigslist, went to visit it and signed the paperwork immediately. With an ideal East Village address, the duo can walk or bike to their offices and frequent their favorite neighborhood haunts but finding an apartment is just the first step. Having interviewed hundreds of our designers about their Homepolish projects, Anna knew that making the place feel like home was going to be a huge step number two.
One of the many perks of working for Homepolish is the availability of ever-helpful, very talented designers coming in and out of the office every day. Anna was able to bounce around ideas about sofa hues (chartreuse was professionally approved!), living room layouts and bed frame heights. Though there are a few things the roommates still want to get for the apartment like more art and clothing storage solutions (working in fashion requires much bigger closets than most New Yorkers have), their place is majorly comfortable, charming and inviting.
