Orlando Soria, West Coast Creative Director of Homepolish
Ok, we have to talk about a hard topic. And that's Orlando Soria's obsession with concrete and natural stone in design projects.
Composing a beautiful home is much like cooking. You have to mix flavors until you’ve created a space that tastes just right. You have to seek out furniture and finishes that have a certain umami. What does this mean? It means I’m telling you to lick every piece of furniture before you buy it to make sure it’s right. Wait, no, that’s not right. I mean you need to mix materials in order to create a home that feels truly balanced. Wood, cloth, plaster, metal, glass, porcelain, and stainless steel are all great materials to include in a home’s interior. But there are two more we must never forget for that full flavor profile: CONCRETE AND NATURAL STONE. These oft-overlooked elements have a true power to give your space the complex, delicious flavor you never knew was possible.
I’ve sifted through some of my favorite Homepolish projects to find examples of how stone and concrete can take your space from BLAH BLAH BLAH to OOOH LA LA! Follow along, won’t you? As we enter into the cave of learning. Learning about stone, concrete, and finding true interior design flavor balance. Together, we’ll find design umami!
