Living above your own shop full of bespoke furniture has its advantages. When it came to designing Ciaran McGuigan's apartment, Homepolish's Justin DiPiero simply couldn't stop himself at one layout.

Ciaran McGuigan might be described as an “all-around creative.” A man with his hands in multiple design-based enterprises, running the American branch of bespoke furniture line Orior as well as working for a leather goods company called Laadmade. And much like many creatives, his living space is a workshop, and it’s constantly up for change.
He also happens to be a friend of Homepolish’s Justin DiPiero, having met at the Savannah College of Art and Design. We know what you’re thinking… what a convenient pair of friends. A furniture designer and an interior designer! It’s like Ciaran planned it, but it actually took him two years to arrive upon the conclusion of working with Homepolish. As he says, “I knew I had the most amazing space and wanted to reach its potential. Working with Justin would provide the foundation for the home as a young creative place that I could strive in.”
The possibilities were endless with the Orior showroom downstairs. But Justin has a general approach when it comes to layouts. “Designing the layout of a room really about taking into consideration how the client uses the space. From there, you have to keep in mind scale and composition.” Initially, they designed the home based off of Ciaran’s existing furniture, but when it was time for a change, they brought in pieces from the latest line. They both admit that the second layout stole their hearts (those pops of blue are to DIE for!), but you can be the judge.

Justin is so efficient, professional, and he turned my space from beautiful to absolutely out of this world! He is one talented designer and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in realizing the space’s potential.- Ciaran McGuigan, owner of Orior New York
