Kelli Lamb, managing editor at lifestyle magazine Rue, and her artist husband Tim were displaced to Los Angeles right after their honeymoon. Homepolish's Haley Weidenbaum helped them rediscover home.

Kelli and Tim Lamb were just married in June. She’s the managing editor of digital bimonthly lifestyle publication Rue Magazine, and he’s an artist and illustrator. The two lived a comfortable life with their two cats, Roxanne and Leonard, in a San Francisco Victorian home with an eclectic mix of furnishings, a combination of their previous lives as bachelor and bachelorette. Sounds like a perfect modern-day ending. But when Tim found a job opportunity, their lives were in for a shake-up. They were facing a move to… Los Angeles. Feeling extremely apprehensive about leaving SF, they found a Silver Lake rental home that they fell in love with. (They actually hopped a flight down to LA to quickly secure the deal.) Right after their honeymoon, they packed up and headed down the coast.

Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Once the two arrived in their new town, they found that their mishmash of furniture seemed out of place in the contemporary white box. Luckily, they snagged interiors pro Haley Weidenbaum for the job. Within the first 10 minutes, the three were swapping ideas, Kelli weighing in with her editorial eye and Tim with his artistic aesthetic. As Haley put it, “They needed something to match their new adult adventure.”

Aside from pieces that better fit in their new locale and lifestyle, Haley redesigned the floorplan as well, opening up the home to the bright Southern California sunshine. Now, the couple is back into a comfortable routine in a space where they can feel at home. You can find Tim tinkering at his new craft cocktail hobby, and Kelli will probably be nearby cooking in a dream kitchen… or sipping on one of those cocktails.

I wanted the house to feel like home as quickly as possible so that my focus would be less on the decorating process and more on just enjoying a new city. Now, Tim and I look at each other and say, ‘Can you believe this is OUR house?’
