Embracing Fall Patterns and Textures

Fall is the time for plaid, tartan, and houndstooth, but who says you can't think outside of the box? With the help of domino, we have 15 patterns and prints that take it to the next level.

At Homepolish, it’s no secret that we simply swoon as soon as the first crisp breeze of fall blows on our rosy cheeks. At the first sight of a slightly orange leaf, we dart to the nearest Starbucks to satisfy our eternal craving for PSLs. And you know what? It’s not that we’re #basic. We just love the cozy vibes that fall brings. In fact, our own Ariel Okin put together a complete fall guide to help you accent your home for the season.

Some of the most important aspects of fall design come in through pattern and texture. As textile designer Rebecca Atwood said in her post, pattern and texture can help tell your story, even if it’s an autumnal narrative. Most people default to plaids and tartan, and there is nothing wrong with that! But it’s time to break out of that same mold. On domino, they talk about embracing nuanced patterns and textures from crushed velvet (be still my heart), herringbone, chunky tasseled throws, and even minimalist accents.
