A little dude in LA gets the bedroom he always wanted (and will want at least through puberty)! A mix of playful and cool boy stuff, Orlando strikes a balance between practical design that mom would like and all the cool things a six year old wants in his bedroom.

Kids rooms are one of my favorite things to design. A) Because kids are fun clients who aren’t afraid of color. B) Because kids tend to be more adventurous design-wise and are willing to try crazy things their grown up counterparts might be scared of. C) Because it’s totally a fun way to live vicariously through my child-clients and create the bedroom I always wanted when I was young but didn’t have my own fancy designer to help me achieve (Thanks parents. FOR NOTHING. Just kidding!).
For my most recent kid’s room makeover (see Sally’s room here) and the rest of the house here), I went for it with my favorite color scheme – blues, greens, and aqua. Jack, an awesome kid who just turned six, was sick of his baby bedroom, ready for big boy times. He was like “MOM I’M OVER THIS BABY STUFF YOU BETTER FIX MY ROOM” and then he threw his brand new computer out the window into the pool while smoking a cigarette and eating food filled with trans fat. Just kidding that never happened because this family is perfect in a way that would be annoying if they weren’t so nice. Click through the slideshow for the rest of this story and bigger pictures.
