Looking through this Los Angeles home, you might be having a slight sensation of déjà vu. And you’d be spot on. Grasie Mercedes, actress and founder of Style Me Grasie, along with her husband Damien, a writer for the show Family Guy, are return clients to Homepolish, having worked with our designer Caroline Wolf on a Silver Lake rental, just over a year ago. Between the two, they’ve had stints at MTV, TV hosting, music work… so their home was full of fascinating and downright cool accessories.
But the time came to find a place they could really commit to… aka they were ready to buy. After spending eight months on Los Angeles’s grueling real estate scene, seeing homes snatched right from under their noses with cash buy-outs, the couple was almost ready to call it quits. After visiting innumerable open houses, they finally found a 3-bedroom, 3-bath home that had the potential to be transformed into their dream home. Signing on the dotted line, it wasn’t soon after that they called up Caroline again for round two.
Foundational changes were the first. Laminate and carpet flooring was swapped out for polished red oak. Tilework went minimal, from simple white subway tile in the kitchen to mint-green penny tile in the guest bathroom. To add a touch of glam, fixtures and finishes came in a gleaming brass. And speaking of glam? Check out that closet reno work. Obviously a necessity for the stylish Grasie.

Caroline’s truly the best. She has the best ideas and impeccable taste. She introduced me to the world of tile, and now that’s all I notice when I enter a bathroom.- Grasie Mercedes, actress and Homepolish client
