Fashion models Alana Zimmer and Nick Rea are constantly on the go. Designer Megan Hopp quickly made over their 1-bedroom apartment to be the perfect New York haven.

When we picture the life of a fashion model, we picture something akin to The Devil Wears Prada. Jet-setting from Milan to Paris to New York, staying in swanky hotels, while acclaimed writers chase after us. Naturally. Little known fact… the accommodations of models aren’t exactly the Ritz. In fact, most would be likened to a college dorm room, packed with extra beds to squeeze in more bodies. Hectic and hardly luxurious.
That is, at least, until you hit the big time. Alana Zimmer and Nick Rea are both recognizable faces in the fashion industry, having walked for houses such as Chanel, Givenchy, Armani, Tom Ford, and Bottega Veneta. Three years ago, Alana purchased a 1-bedroom apartment in New York’s East Village, an adorable space with dark-stained floors, exposed brick, and a backyard to boot. It was a quaint space, a moment of respite away from the bright lights of the runway. But after those three years, she decided to bring in Homepolish’s Megan Hopp to make over the space and bring in those finishing accessories.
With only a couple months before a three-month hiatus planned in London, the team of three had to complete the work. Luckily, Alana and Nick are both competent DIY-ers. (Nick actually completed the living room shelving himself!) The living room came together in what Megan calls an Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland feel. It practically gives off a warm, golden glow. Behind white-painted barn doors, it’s as if you’re glimpsing the behind-the-scenes. With a striking feature wall in Calico wallpaper, the bedroom is absolutely heavenly. In Megan’s words, it’s a “galactic lavender solar system.” Perfectly other-worldly for when you need to escape this one.

Working with Megan at Homepolish was a dream. Nick and I needed to make over our place under a tight time limit, and Megan truly saved the day. It became a fun, collaborative project, and she helped us look at our apartment from a different angle.- Alana Zimmer, fashion model
