When Cooking Channel personality Kelsey Egan Nixon needed some design help, Homepolish started with the most important part of the family home: the kitchen (obviously).

Kelsey Egan Nixon first hit the big time when she was on The Next Food Network Star, quickly becoming an audience favorite with her charm and accessible cooking techniques. Though she didn’t take the title prize, she did garner her own show Kelsey’s Essentials on the Cooking Channel. It had a natural familial vibe, though at the time, she only lived with her hubby Robby (they were college sweethearts). Two years after the series premiere, little Ollie came along. Then, came the sparkling new apartment on the Upper West Side.

For a family of notable foodies, Homepolish’s Marissa Bero understood that the kitchen and dining area were going to be the absolute hubs of activity. And for Kelsey, it was important that the home give an obvious family vibe (similar to her show). A new layout and bright colors made the whole space fun and easy-going. The two especially had fun bringing life into the space with plenty of plants and herbs. And that kitchen? You can see in the gallery that Kelsey’s making good use of it.

And you can check out the coverage in Food Network Magazine’s March issue too!

I couldn’t think of anything better than pouring myself into our apartment to make it feel more like a “home” – somewhere that we that we could be together as a family. It was important to me to have purpose behind our home project and Marissa was so wonderful to work with in this way.
