Sometimes you go on a vacation, and you simply never want to go home. Luckily, for the Adhi family, Homepolish designer Devon Fromm recreated the sensation of the Aegean coast right in their Chicago living and dining room.

We all know that sensation of instant romance when we escape to a new vacation destination. Wandering the streets of Rome after dusk in search of the perfect gelato, diving off the coastal cliffs of Baja California, or perhaps clubbing into the early morning in Rio… at some point we’ve all experienced the thought of never returning home. Maybe we’ll simply pick up our lives and just go on vacation. Permanently. For the Adhi family, that moment came on a trip to Greece.
But, of course, they did eventually bring themselves back to their home in Lakeview, Chicago. And they brought a gorgeous painting back with them. The canvas depicted the picturesque stucco exteriors of the coastal islands with turquoise Aegean waters in the background, and it quickly became the focal point of the living and dining rooms. They wanted to bring their vacation destination right into their interior, and designer Devon Fromm was just the person to help them.
To start, the family already had the painting as well as the chandelier, made up of 18 teardrop bulbs. From there, Devon worked on bringing the Grecian isles to the urban home. Channeling that white stucco, the fireplace surround was finished in stacked white-washed stone. The dining table, coffee table stumps, and entryway bench were all crafted by a company called Icon Modern, bringing in a natural element that warms the cool color tone. Lastly, pops of royal blue were added with the upholstery and textiles… not to mention an accent wall, perfectly matched to the painting.
All we need is some gyros on the table and some of that cool sea breeze on our face… See more in the slideshow!
